Stuart Mason has built his life through art — not around it. His paintings and sculptures have been traded for vehicles, sailboats, shelter, and access across three continents. For him, art was never a profession he entered. It was the medium through which he moved through the world.

His current body of work, the Prism Paintings, marks a specific threshold. We are the last generation that represents this frame of humanity before AI transcendence. Mason is painting us at that moment — the human figure at its most luminous, its most complex, its most irreducibly alive — before everything changes.

The Liminal Movement is both cultural and personal. Mason describes himself as in a crouching position: coiled, ready, not yet fully arrived. The paintings hold that tension.
